Researcher & Technologist

Dan
Voinea

Lecturer at the University of Craiova exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence, journalism, and digital media. Researching how technology transforms the way we create, distribute, and consume information.

About

I am a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Letters, University of Craiova, within the Department of Arts and Media. My academic work spans over a decade, with more than 50 peer-reviewed publications in journals and conference proceedings indexed in Web of Science, IEEE, and other international databases.

My research explores how artificial intelligence and large language models are transforming industries — from journalism and media production to broader process automation. I investigate AI-driven content generation, algorithmic decision-making, and the deployment of LLMs for automating complex workflows across domains. I also study blockchain applications, digital archiving, privacy regulation (GDPR), and the ethical implications of emerging technologies.

Before academia, I spent years working in newsrooms as a network administrator, photojournalist, and project director at regional publications in Romania. Combined with a strong technical background in software development, this experience grounds my research in the practical realities of both media and technology. I hold a PhD in Sociology from the University of Craiova, along with degrees in Political Science and Management. I am also an alumnus of the U.S. State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
